Jerry Jennings has been a successful litigator and lobbyist for more than 16 years. As head of Wilson Elser's Government Investigations and Contracts practice, he combines extensive experience in government affairs and government contracts matters with a strong background in civil and criminal investigations and litigation.

 

In his litigation and government relations practice, Jerry puts client needs front and center. He provides the best possible advice to help clients navigate a particular issue, guided by the overriding principle that their wishes always come first. Jerry is conversant in and comfortable with all practice areas covered by the Albany office, demonstrating a unique versatility in his practice that is appreciated by clients and colleagues alike.

 

Prior to joining Wilson Elser, Jerry was the managing director of the Albany office of an international law firm and a partner and general counsel at a lobbying firm in New York, where he was instrumental in growing the business to one of the top firms in the state. He began his career as a state prosecutor in Florida, handling thousands of matters, including a first degree murder, death penalty case with DNA and other scientific evidence. He has personally tried nearly 50 cases to jury verdict during his career.

Government Relations

Jerry assists his clients in navigating the intricacies of city, state and federal governments. He represents client interests before legislative and regulatory bodies, and keeps clients apprised of the progress of legislation and other public policy initiatives in New York State that could have an impact on their business. He also represents clients in licensing, applications, audit and disciplinary processes and proceedings.

 

In addition, Jerry is extremely well-versed in the lobbying, campaign finance, and ethics laws and regulations at the federal, state and local level.

 

Government Investigations and Contracts

Jerry defends clients faced with government subpoenas, inquiries and formal government investigations. He handles matters before all state and local agencies with investigatory and regulatory oversight, including the Attorney General's Office, Department of Labor, Department of Tax and Finance, Department of Environmental Conservation and many others.

 

In the government contracts area, Jerry focuses on representing clients with procurement matters before state and local governments, including protesting or upholding bid awards, assisting with RFP responses, and negotiating contracts with public entities.

 

PROFESSIONAL AND COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES

 

Jerry is actively involved in the community. He has been a member of the board of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, working tirelessly to benefit those families and individuals tragically touched by blood cancers. He also serves as a mock trial judge for the Albany County Bar Association's high school trial competitions. He is a member of the Board of Trustees at Maria College and a member of the Board of Directors of Tri-Village Little League. He is a former member of the Albany International Airport Authority.
